Years ago I had a friend who concluded all his meetings with this question: What do we have for the stew pot?
He was a folksy guy and used the question to capture potential agenda items. Maybe they weren’t fully formed. Perhaps there was no budget or staff to implement them. Some lived too far outside the proverbial box. No matter. He wanted to snag all the creative ingredients from his team pantry and let them simmer.
And guess what? Sometimes what other leaders would have disregarded as flotsam ended up producing an extraordinary depth of flavor.
That’s what you’ll find cooking in this section of What Anita Knows About. From time to time I’ll toss short observations onto the stove.
